CNA Classes in Arkansas: In-depth Information
In order to take admission in CNA classes in Arkansas, a candidate should be eligible on the following criteria:
- At least 16 years of age.
- GED or high school diploma.
- Proof of criminal background check.
It’s mandatory to attend 90 hours of CNA classes approved by the Arkansas Board of Nursing. These classes are divided into 15 hours of clinical training and 75 hours of classroom studies. CNA classes are conducted at several facilities, like hospitals, nursing homes, vocational schools, technical colleges, rehabilitation centers, assisted living centers and clinics.
Typical skills taught in CNA classes are: measuring vital signs of the patients, wound dressings, assisting patients in their daily routine activities, proper medication, communicating with the patients and related members (family, health care team, record keeping). The clinical training is carried out under the supervision of an experienced LPN or an RN.
After successful completion of training classes, students are required to qualify the certification exam within one year, in order to work as a nursing assistant. The certification exam is conducted by Prometric/Department of Health and Human Services Division.
