CNA Classes in Minnesota: In-depth Information
The state recognized certified nursing assistant programs should be of at least 175 hours duration. The whole schedule is divided into seventy-five hours of class studies and hundred hours of clinical practice. The fee of CNA classes depends on the college/university, you wish to study at. Usually, it ranges from $500 to $2,000. Some organizations provide low-cost or free training courses, while others might pay for your classes, if you agree to work at their facility after successfully completion of the program and qualify the certification exam.
In Minnesota, CNA training is regulated by the Department of Health. To enrol for nursing assistant programs, applicants must be 18 years old, able to pass the health examination, capable to pass a criminal background check and possess fluency in English. A GED or diploma in high school is also a mandatory requirement.
During the classes, students develop communication skills, physical skills (like making beds, assist patients with grooming, dressing and bathing, prevention of infection, measuring vital signs, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, etc.) and psychosocial care skills (like dealing with emotional and mental needs of the patients, dealing with dying patients, stress management, etc.).
However, the state of Minnesota doesn’t require any sort of in-service training, but Federal government have in-service requirement. This necessitates healthcare facilities to offer nurse aides with a minimum of twelve hours of specific in-service training, each year, in order to brush up their skills and knowledge.
