The Department of Public Health is responsible for maintaining a registry that provides a list of qualified nursing assistants in the state. The verification ensures the admission of only trained and skilled nurse aides. It also makes sure that the prospective employee has no charges of felony and ill-treatment against patients.
The CNA classes in Illinois are conducted both in the classroom and in an appropriate clinical environment. The approved nursing classes can be found at community colleges, nursing homes, hospitals and vocational schools.
The exams for the certified nursing assistants in the state must be taken and passed within 120 days after completion of the classes.

The candidates are required to fulfill the following conditions to get enrolled in the nursing assistant programs:

- They must possess a photograph ID or driver’s license.
