CNA Classes in Colorado: In-depth Information
As a certified nursing assistant, you get the opportunity to work closely with patients. You are responsible for bathing, feeding and grooming of patients; measuring vital signs; assisting nurses; provide information on patient’s condition to nurses, etc.
In Colorado, students will need to provide evidence that in nursing fundamental courses, they have completed at least five semester credit hours. This evidence can be provided by contacting the nursing department or school, where you have received your training, and asking for transcript to be remitted to the Colorado Board of Nursing. Aspiring candidates are allowed to take CNA certification exam, only if, their credits from their training as a nurse are accepted by the Colorado Board of Nursing.
There is no GED or high school diploma required for a nurse aide in Colorado; however, if you complete your GED or high school diploma, it will enhance your career opportunities and earnings. Other requirements to enrol for CNA classes are 16 years of age, clean criminal background and proficiency in English and Mathematics. Some institutions and schools may require you to take the Test of Adult Basic education (TABE).
The enrolment fee for CNA classes ranges from $400 to $800. The classes last for 6 to 12 weeks. 75 hours of instruction for all nursing assistant classes is mandated by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Like other states, nurse aide classes in Colorado are also divided into clinical practice and classroom studies. Nutrition, infection control, basic nursing skills, physiology and anatomy, record keeping, etc. are some of the important topics covered in the curriculum of CNA training program. During clinical activities, students gain plenty of hands-on-experience.
