CNA Classes in Virginia: In-depth Information
Before taking up your new profession choice as a certified nurse aide, you will need to complete the state approved nursing assistant training programs. Virginia Board of Nursing design and approves these classes. State approved nurse aide curriculum comprises of one hundred and twenty hours of instruction. It comprises of both clinical and classroom sessions. Candidates are required to dedicate six to twelve weeks in completing the coursework.
The expenditure associated with CNA training ranges from $400 to $4,000. Several options for getting discounted or free training are also available. The topics covered in the training program are body mechanics, physiology and anatomy, nutrition, infection control, rights of patients, interpersonal and interaction skills, etc. The hands-on-practice session imparts you knowledge about how to measure vital sign, making bed, assisting patients with bathing, dressing and grooming, etc.
The pre-requisites to sign up for these programs are:
- Criminal background check.
- Documentation providing proof of negative TB (tuberculosis).
- Immunizations of tetanus, measles, rubella, mumps, etc.
- 18 years of age.
- A high school diploma or GED.
