1. The job outlook for CNAs is great. The job opportunities are increasing because of an increased demand for healthcare by the country’s growing population of aged individuals.

2. There are several advancement options. A CNA can become a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) after getting higher education and the necessary experience.

3. CNAs can work at a variety of healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, residential care facilities etc. A CNA has the liberty to select the workplace depending on their personal preferences.

4. Being a CNA is emotionally very rewarding. This career suits compassionate people who want to help other people.

Cons of Being a CNA

1. A CNAs job is very demanding and involves a lot of physical work. The patients or their attendants may get violent and angry at times and display inappropriate behaviors. A CNA should be emotionally and physically very strong in order to cope up with such situations.

2. There are disparities among the salaries of CNAs working at different healthcare settings. A CNA working at a residential care facility is likely to get paid less as compared to a CNA working at a hospital or a clinic.

3. A CNA is often required to do tasks which are not only difficult but at times very unpleasant as well. They are required to handle body fluids, change the linen, and change patients’ urine bags etc, which can be quite unpleasant to many individuals.
