Bon Secours School of Nursing is a part of Regional Medical Center Virginia Health System and owned by BSMRMC VHS. The nursing school was founded in 1961 and was known as Richmond Memorial School of Nursing but, in 1988, Richmond Memorial Hospital joined the Bon Secours Health System, and the school was renamed to the Bon Secours Memorial School Nursing. In 2009, the school started functioning as the Bon Secours School of Nursing.


The school offers a diploma in nursing to aspiring students of nursing. The characteristic of the school is based on strong clinical practice application and nursing theory that is instructed at the beginning of first year. The early student and patient involvement during clinical experience establishes solid foundation of hands-on practice knowledge and skill.

Accreditation, Approval and Membership

Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing is duly approved by State Council of Higher Education in Virginia and the Virginia Board of Nursing.

School has received its accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Independent Schools. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission has accredited the diploma nursing program. The School is a member of the Assembly of Hospital Schools of Nursing in Virginia.   Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The Vision of the school is to provide a progressive program of nursing education, which offers excellence in meeting the changing needs of patients, consumers and society.

The Mission of the schools is to offer quality nursing programs, which can prepare compassionate entry level practitioners and set the foundation of nursing students for life- long learning.


Program eligibility Criteria

The students must earn a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above in nursing and non nursing courses, to become eligible for to the next level of the curriculum and graduation.

Twice every year, the school commences entry level admission procedures.
