The location of Lutheran School of Nursing is within five miles of Interstate 55 at St. Alexius Hospital – Jefferson Campus, in St. Louis. The nursing school affiliates with the Saint Alexus Hospital and department of the hospital. It is a private two-year school offering diploma and certificates. Some programs also include nursing administration, clinical nursing and nursing research and registered nursing. As on February 2011 the student-to-faculty ratio is 8-to-1 in the classroom. Since, more than 100 years, the school has been providing excellence in nursing education to nurses.


The Lutheran School of Nursing offers hospital-based diploma nursing program of 28 months duration. The program includes both a Registered Nurse Track and a Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse (LPN to RN) Bridge Track. The program comprises of both classroom instructions in school’s Educational Building and clinical hands-on experience in various health care facilities.

Registered Nurse (RN) Track

Registered Nurse (RN) Track is a 22–month, full–time, day program, offering clinical hand-on experience in various hospital and community settings. An average of 16 hours of clinical experience per week is provided in nursing courses.

LPN to RN Bridge Track

The LPN to RN Bridge Track can be completed in nearly 15 month. The course is a full–time, day program, which prepares a LPN to become Registered Nurse. The program is especially designed for the Practical Nurses who want to pursue a career as an RN.

  • English Composition I
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Anatomy and Physiology I (must be completed successfully within five years prior to acceptance to LSN)


Accreditation

Lutheran School of Nursing has been granted accreditation by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission [NLNAC] and approval from the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
